» NAME: Jedao (aka Jedao Two, aka Voidmoth Jedao, aka Amnesia Jedao, aka Jedao 2: Boogaloo, aka Jaby, aka the version from Revenant Gun.)
» CANON: The Machineries of Empire trilogy by Yoon Ha Lee
» CANON POINT: about a year after the end of Revenant Gun
» AGE: ....his body is chronologically about a year old, he physically looks 44, his weird soul infusion is about 455 years old, and his rough memories and self-identity leave him at 18. For the purposes of interacting with other people, he's 18ish. (Strap in for the weird shit now, guys. It continues.)

» SETTING: The Hexarchate is a terrifying elegant space torture empire.
His Predecessor, the Archtraitor, the Immolation Fox.
This is a mostly useless stub but I'm including it anyway.

» SHORT DESCRIPTION:

Affection-hungry -

Self-loathing -

» INFLUENTIAL EVENTS:

- the Battle of Isteia
- Dhanneth's suicide
- Assassinating Kujen

» FIT:

» POWERS: Jedao is made from a voidmoth, a semi-eldritch creature with a variety of abilities (some of which may be a result of Kujen's experiments rather than inherent in all voidmoths.)

1) Immortality/fast healing - Jedao is repeatedly shot in the head and chest over the course of the book, which he recovers from on the order of a few days. However, it seems like there might be an inversely proportional severity element, where his healing is most activated by the most dangerous injuries. Once, when he takes lethal shots and knee shots in the same incident, his knees continue to bother him after his general recovery. Kujen suggests that he might die if he did something like shoot himself into a sun. He does need some human food to stay healthy, even though it tastes terrible to him.

2) Slightly handwavey personal space travel - Voidmoths are the source of the Hexarchate's interstellar faster-than-light travel, moving along "gradients" in non-normal space. Journeys between far star systems can take on the order of weeks. Jedao is a human-shaped baby voidmoth, and the only time he tried to do this, pulling only himself, one other person, and their escape pod in a vague direction of "away from this battle," without leaving the vicinity of the planet, it hurt a lot and he blacked out. OTOH, he'd literally never tried it before and was pretty screwed up by the battle in question. In game, I would definitely keep him confined to the solar system and/or general game space, and I wouldn't let him bring more than one person along without a ton of effort. He won't be super eager to practice this power, because it hurts and because he has a lot of internalized xenophobia about being non-human, and I can fanwank that his limitations are the result of being very young for a voidmoth, and being mutilated into resembling a human.

3) Mass sense - Jedao can feel the mass of objects around him in 3D space, to the precision of knowing when people are moving in the next room even when can't see them. This sense fades out somewhat with distance.

4) He can speak mind-to-mind with other voidmoths. Possibly he could do this to similar enough creatures from other canons if mods and other muns agreed.

5) Intuitive math skill - not really a supernatural power but worth noting since his predecessor/forebear Shuos Jedao had dyscalculia.

6) He also has some not-quiiiite-supernatural but very protagonisty extreme skills inherited from Shuos Jedao, including incredibly fast reflexes at the absolute end of the human bell curve, and a very high facility for learning languages. Both Jedaos are tactical geniuses, with a particular flair for predicting the movements of their opponents. Jedao Two doesn't have Shuos Jedao's experience, though. Shuos Jedao also had an uncanny ability to know approximately what someone was thinking just by watching their body language. Jedao Two is probably very intuitive but hasn't had his predecessor's practice honing that skill either. According to the author, Jedao "never loses a gunfight." Jedao Two.........is a better shot than he remembers having any right to be, but probably not quite that good.

» NOTES:
» SAMPLES: Jedao Two replaces his predecessor for an event.
A network conversation. Beware a few seeming non-sequiturs, it's a follow-up to another log thread.
