He feels a striking, terrifying certainty, wordless and thoughtless, that he will outlive Fives just as he has outlived everyone else, that someday he will be a gibbering splintered thing at the end of the universe, all eyes and teeth and shadow amid the corpses of ancient stars. He will have willingly forgotten his own name, he is certain, that he was ever a thing like human, but he will remember Fives.

"You saved me," he whispers, "From madness and despair. You are the best thing that ever happened to me, too." He thinks Fives might be the best thing that could have happened to him.
